Come and explore a new STEAM related activity for school-aged children! Ages 5-11

Read as many books as possible to celebrate National Literacy Day on Friday, September 8! A prize will be given to the child, tween or teen who reads the most books!

Each time read a book Monday, September 1 through Friday, September 8, let us know and we'll add it to our Dowdell Library Reading Chart! Help us fill the chart to our weekly goal of 1,000 books! 

All participants who read throughout the week, will receive vouchers to the South Amboy Roller Skating Rink
and Chipotle. 
Celebrate Swap Ideas Day on Friday, September 8 and share a favorite recipe, hobby, Youtube channel, etc. Drop in or email All ideas received will be highlighted in the October eNewsletter.

Tweens/Teens! Enter the Banned Book Week Contest from Monday, September 25 to Friday, September 29, and have a chance to win a prize! 
All you have to do is match books with the reason they were banned. Those who match books correctly will be put into a drawing and at the end of the week, a winner will be chosen!

 Joining the Friends has a lot of benefits and they no longer require dues!
The next Friends of the Library meeting is Tuesday, September 5 at 7 pm. 

Learn a language with Rosetta Stone. This vital resource includes 30 languages to meet a range of cultural interests. 

Learning is structured around core lessons to build reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and also includes focused activities to refine grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and more.

Community members can also take advantage of available mobile apps that enable learners to reinforce their language learning wherever they may be.

Music @ Dowdell is excited to present “Noisy Neighbors!”  This Mardi Gras inspired band will perform live at the Dowdell Library on Monday, October 2 from 6:30-8 pm.  Bring friends and family to enjoy an enchanting evening of Mardi Gras!
Masks are a magical part of Mardi Gras tradition. Enter the "Maskarade" competition for the most intriguing mask and have a chance to win a prize!  Don't miss it!
