Kanopy: Free Movie Streaming
Kanopy is a free movie streaming service offered by Dowdell Library. Just use your library card to access thousands of movies and series to watch now.
Start by going to Dowdell.org or www.kanopy.com/en/dowdell and click on “Add a library card”. Next, type in your library card number and pin number. Then, create an account using your an email address and create a password. You must be 18 years or older to make an account.
Each movie or show requires a certain number of tickets to stream; patrons get 25 tickets a month to use. The number of tickets resets on the first of each month and tickets do not roll over into next month. The number of tickets required to watch a movie or series will be displayed when you click on a title
. The title page will also show how long you have to watch each title. The number of tickets left to use for the month will be displayed at the top right-hand of the screen.
Kanopy Kids titles are free and require no tickets to watch.
At the top of the screen you can click on “My Lists”. There, you can view your “Continue Watching” to pick up where you left off on a movie or show. Or, you can see your “Watch List”, where you can add films or series that you want to watch later.
Kanopy has thousands of options to choose from. You can browse movies by genre, title, what is popular with users, or check out the monthly collections curated by Kanopy.
